Lobby

Contrary to what some people say, most national and local politicians are good people, who have a sense of justice and want to improve things for their community.  They get their information from several sources – their personal experiences, their party, the official government line, lobby groups, established interests, the media and their constituents.  For many of the best politicians, the jewel in that crown is the information and experiences from individual constituents.

You can easily find out who your local or national politicians are by visiting www.writetothem.com.  You can make your points in your initial email or use it to find out where their surgeries are so you can brief them in person or to get a phone number on which you can ring them.

As with journalists, any good politician is busy, so keep your message brief and to the point.  Facts - whether from our website or elsewhere – are always welcome.

Politicians often want to do something to help and these days that often seems to mean calling for legislation.  This can be important when it is part of a campaign we or others run or when government legislation in the area is being considered.  To keep abreast of any campaigns we run, subscribe to our news alert by emailing news@witnessconfident.org.
